A 78-year Chief is Bosomtwe's best farmer

Yaase (Ash), Dec. 7, GNA - Nana Kofi Peprah, a 78-year old Gyasehene of Sawuah, won the 2009 district best farmer award in Bosomtwe, and for his prize received a table-top fridge, bicycle, radio cassette recorder, a piece of wax print, Wellington boots, machete and spraying machine.

In all, 18 individual farmers and one institution were recognized at the ceremony held at Yaase. Mr Edward Nti-Berko, District Chief Executive (DCE), urged the youth to be inspired by the awards to go into agriculture. He said it is more rewarding to take to farming than to drift to urban areas in search of non-existing jobs. He congratulated the award winners for working hard to feed the nation and sustain the national economy.

Mr Gbamarah Dery, the District Director of Agriculture, called on farmers to accept modern methods of farming to increase crop yield and returns.
