AOB district Assembly improves on IGF in 2009

Breman Asikuma (C/R), Nov. 30, GNA - The Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa (AOB) District Assembly increased its Internally Generated Funds (IGF) from GHC85,917.63 in October 2008 to GHC110,213.33 as at November 2009. The District Chief Executive, Madam Georgina Nkrumah Aboah said this at the third Ordinary meeting of the third session of the District Assembly at Breman Asikuma.

She attributed the increases in the revenue to hard work by Revenue Officers and Assembly Members.

The DCE said the Assembly has been able to repair the Revenue Mobilization Van and hoped that it would help further increase generation. She said 177 teacher assistants and forty-four health assistants have been engaged under the National Youth employment programme (NYEP), to help promote education and health in the district.

She said Breman-Kokoso, Bedum and Nwomaso are to benefit from the Small Town Water System programme, under the European Union (EU) assistance. On education, the DCE said there was an improvement in the results of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the District, and that 47.59 percent passed this year as compared to 38.28 percent in 2008. She said 6 schools-Asikuma Pamo International, Asikuma church of Christ International, Nwomaso district Assembly, Brakwa Unity Preparatory, Asikuma Happy Child International and Brakwa Islamic schools scored 100%. The DCE said schools, which used to record zero percent improved to five percent in 2008 but dropped to three in 2009, and urged school authorities to do their best and improve on the situation. 30 Nov. 09
