Ketu South Assembly gets incentive award fund

Denu, Oct 12, GNA - Government has allocated an incentive award fund of about Ghc 410,000 to the Ketu South District Assembly by government for development projects in recognition of its creditable development performance.

Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development's evaluation of the functional capacity of districts assemblies in 2008, using the Functional Organizational Assessment Tool (FOT), a development survey scheme, had passed the assembly and 49 others for excellent work and granted them the varying incentive funds. An Executive Committee report of the Ketu South District Assembly discussed at an ordinary meeting at Denu on Friday named the areas assessed by the FOT survey as development planning, financial management and accounting, procurement, operation of the district assembly and plan implementation.

Projects to be implemented under the grant are in education, capacity building, health and sanitation sectors in conformity with the district medium term development plan and eight communities including Adafienu, Nogokpo and Dornomadi have been named to benefit. The meeting hailed the recognition and the grant as a motivation for extra dedication to duty and diligence which should culminate into improving the lot of the people. The Executive Committee, by the report, has approved the suggestion for the acquisition of a new cesspool emptier by the assembly at the cost of Ghc 87,500.00.

It recommended the payment of the proceeds from the equipment into the Common Fund account and disbursement tracked. The report also advised that all water closet toilets built by the assembly be linked with good roads. 12 Oct 09
