Assembly acquires bull-dozer to improve feeder roads

Manso-Atwere (Ash.), Oct. 6, GNA - The Amansie West District Assembly has acquired a bull-dozer, to rehabilitate feeder roads in the area to make the transportation of cocoa and other farm produce to marketing centres easier.

Mr Charles Oti-Prempeh, District Chief Executive (DCE) of the area said, it was bought from the Assembly's share of the Common Fund. The acquisition of the road construction machine is seen as timely and significant, considering the fact that the area's population is predominantly rural with the roads leading to most of their communities in bad shape.

Speaking at separate durbars held in his honour during a tour of some communities, Mr Oti-Prempeh advised the people to put behind them their political differences and join hands to move the district forward. The tour was to give the DCE an opportunity to learn at first hand, the most pressing needs of the people.

Manso-Mim, Moseaso, Pakyi Number One, Hiakose, Essuowin, Ahwerewa, Keniago, Esaase, Pakyi Number Two and Manso Atwere were among the communities he visited.

The main concerns they raised had to do with bad roads, lack of good drinking water, inadequate classrooms and teachers' accommodation and the inaccessibility to quality health care.

Mr Oti-Prempeh said the assembly would do everything it could, to ensure that the standard of living of the people gets better. He reiterated that government has no inclination to victimize or harass its perceived opponents and that the review of the Cocoa Mass Spraying and School Feeding Programme were meant to bring about efficiency.
