Tamale, Aug. 5, GNA - Dr. Sulley Gariba, Chairman of the Governing Council of the Tamale Polytechnic has urged his colleagues on the Council to use their tenure of Office to solve local development challenges and jobs for the people. He said the council needed to recreate the spirit of service to the community by partnering with local and foreign NGOs and other reputable institutions to build the capacities of communities to solve their problems.

He urged management of the Polytechnic to initiate a survey of the community's perceptions and expectations of the Polytechnic before December 2009 and repeat the survey in subsequent years to find out how the community rates the Polytechnic to enable them assess their performance as a Council.

He said the results of the survey would also guide them to make their annual plans.

He advised them against the canker of rumours and leaking of information that seems to be bedevilling the activities of the polytechnic and making it difficult for people to work in the institution.
