Amoako elected Presiding Member of AOB district Assembly

Breman Asikuma (C/R), May 16, GNA - Mr Anthony Kobina Amoako, Assembly Member for Odoben was on Thursday elected the Presiding Member of the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District (AOB) Assembly. Mr Amoakwo, who was the sole candidate in the second round of voting, polled 38 votes, representing 88.4 percent out of 42 total votes cast in an election conducted by the Central Regional Electoral Officials, led by Mr Samuel Tetteh, Regional Director. In the first election earlier, Mr Anthony Kobina Amoako obtained 22 votes whiles Mr Kweku Amoako also an assemblyman in Odoben had 20 votes, sending the elections into the second round because none of them had the required number of votes to become the presiding member.

Mr Kweku Amoako then stepped down before the second round of voting, enabling Mr Amoako to stand as the sole candidate. Mr Amoako in his acceptance speech thanked the Members for electing him and appealed to them to put aside their political differences and rather cooperate with him to develop of the area. The Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam (AEE) District Magistrate, Mr Kwesi Boakye Enimil, swore the newly elected Presiding Member into office. 16 May 09
