Jasikan and Akan District Assemblies approve President Mills' nominees

Kadjebi, April 27, GNA - Members of Akan District Assembly approved Mr Seth Alifui as Akan District Chief Executive. He polled 30 out of the 40 votes cast with 10 against representing 75 per cent at their meeting held at Kadjebi-Akan on Monday. Mr Alifui pledged to pursue an all inclusive administration.

Mr John K. Preko who was elected Presiding Member, pledged to assist all stakeholders to strategise to improve education and revenue mobilisation in the district.

He said welfare of the assembly members would also be tackled. In another development members of Jasikan District Assembly approved the nomination of Nana Kumessy-Bonsy Barima, a retired educationist as Jasikan District Chief Executive.

He had all the 28 votes cast at the meeting held on Monday. Nana Barima promised to facilitate the settlement of chieftaincy disputes in the area to speed up development in the district. Mr Ford Karmel, Member of Parliament for Buem said the unanimous decision showed President John Evans Atta Mills' nomination was appropriate. 27 April 09
