Draughtsmen asked to stop assisting illegal land developers

Agona Swedru (C/R) April 11, GNA- Mr Frank Mantey Korli, Agona Municipal Town and Country Planning Officer, has advised draughtsmen in both private and government departments not to assist land owners to build on government lands, especially those earmarked for social amenities. He urged members of the association to abide by laws and regulations governing their profession to promote sanity in land development.

Mr Frank Mantey Korli, gave the advice at the inauguration of the Agona Swedru branch of the Architectural Draughtsmen Association, at Agona Swedru. He cautioned that draughtsmen who would be caught defrauding land owners and developers under the pretext of being officials of Public Works Department, Assembly, Survey Department and Town and Country Planning Department, would not be spared. Mr Ben Mensah, Agona West Municipal Chief Executive, asked the members to consider themselves as partners in the development of the area.

Ogidegram Okrupi Kobina Asiedu Botchey, chief of Agona Swedru and Adontehen of Agona Traditional Area, advised draughtsmen to work in collaboration with government agencies to ensure proper development. The traditional ruler who is also the acting President of the Agona Nyankrom Traditional Council, appealed to members of the Association to ensure that the operated within the law. Mr Benjamin Kumi, chairman of the Association, said member would in collaboration with the Assemblies and government departments to check people who built without approved documents. He said the group would also help to educate the public on the need to acquire permits before putting up buildings.
