Chief advocates the establishment of agriculture faculty at Ofoase

Juaso (Ash), April 10, GNA- Nana Tiefum Ampratwum II, Omanhene of Ofoase Traditional Area, has called on the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) to establish a Faculty of Agriculture at Ofoase near Obogu in the Asante-Akim South District under the Presbyterian University College (PUC). He said such a move would not only promote agricultural activities, which were the mainstay of the people in the area, but also provide wider opportunity for senior high school graduates to have access to tertiary education. He announced his readiness to provide the required land that would be needed for the project and urged the church to consider his proposal. Nana Ampratwum made the call when addressing the 19th delegates' conference of the Asante-Akyem Presbytery at Juaso.

The conference, which was attended by 65 delegates drawn from eight districts, was on the theme, "Let us go unto maturity". The Omanhene commended the PCG for its immense contribution to education in the country, saying it had over the years produced renowned statesmen, whose contribution to national development were immeasurable. He pointed out that churches played indispensable roles in nation building and entreated government to create enabling environment for churches to contribute effectively towards national development. Reverend David Kofi Anokye, Chairperson of the Asante-Akyem Presbytery, assured the chief that his proposal would be considered at the general assembly later this year. He commended him for his keen interest in education, adding that the Presbyterian Church shared his vision to make education accessible to all and challenged other traditional rulers to liaise with development partners to better the lot of their people.
