Police caution users of Cape Coast-Accra road to be extra careful

Winneba(C/R,) April 10, GNA - The Winneba District Police Command has cautioned drivers plying in the Cape Coast-Accra road to be cautious of five accidents prone spots on the road identified by the command to avoid any disaster during the rainy season. The accident prone areas are Gomoa Okyereko/Potsin, Gomoa Fetteh Kakraba, Gomoa Buduburam and between Apam Junction and Winneba. The Winneba District Police Commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Jordan Quaye said these in a "Road Accidents Alert" statement issued to the Press in Winneba on Wednesday. He said at the Gomoa Okyere-Potsin portion, where an accident last year claimed 41 lives, the about six kilometers from the Winneba Junction is hilly, and also most drivers did not maintain their lanes since it is a large curve-descending from Kasoa.

The Police Commander said the road becomes waterlogged when it rains and therefore appealed to drivers to maintain their marked lanes and also slow down on wet days. ASP Quaye said at the Fetteh Kakraba area, the place is hilly and for that matter, drivers speed excessively when descending. He said during rains it become slippery and urged users to exercise caution. The Police Commander said on the spot at Buduburam, during rains the road often became flooded with washed sand, debris and mud making driving very difficult. He therefore appealed to drivers to be extra careful during this rainy season to avoid accident in the area.
