Ziope-Kporta gets a 3-unit classroom block

Ziope (V/R), March 15, GNA - Mr Mawuli Kwame Dabi, District Chief Executive for Adaklu-Anyigbe in the Volta Region on Wednesday commissioned a three-unit classroom block, office and a store worth 249,13 Ghana Cedis for the Ziope-Kporta community. The community built the facility within 100 days through communal labour with financial and material support from Community Based Rural Development Project (CBRDP) and the District Assembly under the Rapid Result Initiative (RRI).

The DCE commended the community for manifesting the communal spirit to supplement government's effort at making education accessible to all.

"I am happy that you set all odds aside and became one of the first in the whole region to meet the deadline and complete the project even before the 100 days", Mr Dabi said. He urged the community to own the facility and ensure its maintenance for it to benefit future generations. Mr Dabi advised parents to make good use of the facility by sending their children and wards to school and cooperate with teachers for the smooth running of the school.

He implored the District office of the Ghana Education Service to provide the needed teaching and learning materials to the school and monitor its advancement regularly to enhance the performance of the school children. Mr. Charles Nayram, Volta Regional Coordinator of the CBRDP commended the RRI Team and the community for their commitment and hard work.

He said the World Bank and the Ghana Government were pleased with the performance of the CBRDP and would soon begin the second phase of the project. He called on beneficiaries of the first phase to maintain the projects.

Mr Ben Bludo, Ziope Area Council Secretary, expressed gratitude to the stakeholders for the facility and pledged the preparedness of the communities to sustain the project. He appealed to the Assembly and the Education Directorate to supply the schools with furniture for both teachers and pupils to enhance teaching and learning.

The DCE later inaugurated a similar project worth 16,555 Ghana Cedis at Agortime-Sarakope where the community built a six-unit pavilion into a classroom block with an office and a store. Mr Samuel Tumaku, District Director of Education presented five cartons of library books donated by Kpamba Scholarship Foundation and Books for Africa, a Non Governmental Organisation, to each of the schools.
