Three citizens fete 120 widows

Dormaa Ahenkro (B/A), Jan. 9, GNA - Three Accra-based Dormaa citizens have presented assorted items worth 5,000 Ghana cedis to 120 widows, widowers and inmates of the children's ward of the Presbyterian hospital at separate ceremonies at Dormaa Ahenkro. The three philanthropists are Mr. Atta Dabone Snr., Mr. Edward Abrokwah, both employees of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning and Mr. Atta Dabone Jnr., a tutor at the Methodist University College. Mr. Atta Dabone Snr said they instituted the annual Christmas package three years ago as their "widow's mite" towards minimizing the loneliness that widows and sick children went through during the Yuletide. He urged society to consider gifts as loans that were bound to be reciprocated in diverse forms and people should readily and freely give to those in want, especially during festive occasions. Receiving the items on behalf of the widows and widowers, Mr. Kwabena Boahene, Managing Director of Gifts FM, a private radio station, thanked the donors and expressed the hope that the gesture would inspire happiness among the beneficiaries. At the children's ward, Mr. P.K. Gyasi, Principal Nursing Officer, expressed gratitude to the donors and urged other well-meaning organizations, groups and individuals to emulate the three philanthropists.
