Birim North District needs good educational infrastructure

GyeWani Nkwanta (E/R), Dec. 4, GNA - The Headmaster of Gye Wani Nkwanta Local Authority JHS near Akim Oda, Mr. Benjamin Adu Ofosu, on Tuesday said the provision of quality infrastructure and equipment for schools would help improve the performance of students. He said since the government was committed to providing compulsory education, it was necessary that the people of Birim North District of the Eastern Region, both residents and non-residents support government's efforts.

Mr Ofosu said these at a Parent Teacher Association (PTA) meeting of the school. He appealed to parents to pay their wards school fees on time to enable the school administration to continue providing quality education. According to him: "The school would continue practicing "open administration", and called on parents not to hesitate to call at the school whenever they were confronted with any issue concerning their wards.

The Headmaster the nation needed students who were dedicated, well disciplined and prepared at all times to serve the nation. Nana Asare Bentum III, Chief of Gye Wani Nkwanta advised the teachers not to impart only knowledge and skills, but also assist them to acquire the attributes of moral uprightness such as honesty, truthfulness and integrity. The Chief appealed to the Birim North District Assembly to assist the people to reconstruct the Local Authority Junior High School, now at the verge of collapsing. He expressed worry that some students in the country indulged in drug abuse, alcoholism, promiscuity and other social vices. Nana Asare said such vices affected academic work and asked students to use their time judiciously, to enable them achieve their educational goals.
