Techiman, May 16, GNA - Nana Poku Twum Brempong II, Twafohene of Techiman Traditional Area, is single-handedly financing the construction of a 1.5-billion cedi parking lot for heavy trucks to ease congestion in the municipality.

The project, sited along the Techiman/Kintampo highway, has reached an advanced stage of completion. Nana Nana Poku Twum Brempong, who is Managing Director of Expo J Hotel in Techiman, told the GNA in an interview that he had spent 1.2 billion cedis on the project, in addition to his release of 20 acres of land for the project.

He said he was motivated to help stem the indiscriminate parking of heavy trucks along the streets of Techiman, more especially along the Techiman/Tamale highway. "The indiscriminate parking of trucks has often causes motor accidents and hopefully the new station for the cargo trucks on their way to the northern parts of the country and neighbouring countries like Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso will be curtailed", the chief added.
