Ketu District Assembly exceeds revenue

Denu, May 10, GNA - The Ketu District Assembly has marked a record achievement in its internally generated revenue efforts by exceeding last year's target of 2.09 billion cedis by 251.06 million cedis. Mr Justice Cudjoe, the District Chief Executive, commended the revenue staff and appealed to members of the assembly to help the assembly to achieve its Revenue Improvement Action Plan (RIAP) goals by sensitising the people about their tax obligations.

Opening a two-day general meeting of the assembly on Wednesday at Denu he announced a 24 percent or 822.1 million cedis increase in this year's revenue target of 2.9 billion cedis over that of 2006. He said development projects now at various stages of construction at a total of 57.4 billion cedis would receive further attention this year.

Road works that would receive attention are tarring of the Aflao/Agblekpui road, tarring of the 6.4 kilometre Kasu-Kave road, the Agbozume-Klikor town roads and the Ehi/Dzodze road. Mr Cudjoe mentioned the assistance of an anonymous philanthropist in sinking 100 boreholes in collaboration with the US-based Aldersgate United Methodist Church Mission.

Mr Cudjoe said staff recruitment and training is underway for the introduction of the Metro Mass Transport Services in the area. Mr Cudjoe said 3,265 youths have so far registered with the National Youth Employment Programmed, with 666 already engaged while others are awaiting training.
