Impasse between chief and Assembly member resolved

Sikaa (B/A), May 5, GNA - Mr. James Kwabena Appiah-Awuah, Nkoranza District Chief Executive (DCE) has urged the people to unite and not to allow partisan politicking to divide them to the detriment of the rapid development of the district.

Mr. Appiah-Awuah was addressing the chiefs and people of Sikaa at a ceremony to resolve an impasse between Mr. Kofi Boahen, Assembly Member and Nana Ameyaw Yeboa, Chief of the area. Nana Ameyaw had allegedly accused the Assembly Member of not involving him in the selection of government appointees to the unit committee in the area.

The DCE expressed regret about the impasse, stressing that since politics was meant for development, people needed to bury their political differences and unite for development.

He urged Assembly and unit committee members to collaborate with traditional authorities to mobilize the people for communal labour exercises and improved living conditions.

Major Derek Oduro (rtd), MP for Nkoranza North told the people that areas where there was no peace could not develop and advised them to shun practices that would divide them.

He urged the youth to respect and support their leaders to ensure development.

The chief urged the Assembly Member and unit committee members to respect the traditional authorities and liaise with them in the developmental process.
