Falling oil tank kills two farmers

Adeiso (E/R), April 10, GNA - Mr Kwaku Asare, 45 and Nana Yaw, 25, both farmers of Oppong Villa near Adeiso in the West Akim District of the Eastern Region, met their death on Good Friday when a tank containing palm oil being conveyed from Kwae to Tema slipped from an articulated truck and fell on them.

Police sources said the tanker driver Frank Agyaako, 35, had swerved in an attempt to avoid head-on collision with an oncoming vehicle when the tank broke loose and landed on the men who were working on their farm at the side of the Adeiso-Accra road. Mr Daniel Asare Nyampong, Superintendent in-charge of the Nsawam Police District told the Ghana News Agency in an interview that the mutilated bodies of the farmers have been deposited at the Nsawam Government Hospital for autopsy.

Meanwhile, the police are conducting further investigations into the cause of the accident.
