Orientation for Breman Asikuma Assembly opens

Breman Asikuma (C/R) Feb. 9, GNA- The Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr. Emmanuel Adjei Doomson, on Thursday advised the assembly members to place the Assembly above their personnel interest and assiduously to facilitate the development of the area. He gave the advice at the opening of a three-day orientation workshop for members of the Assembly at Breman-Asikuma on Thursday. Mr. Doomson urged the participants to take the workshop very seriously to enable understand their roles in the District Assembly concept, understand the new decentralization programme.

The DCE noted that poverty and illiteracy were the two major problems facing the people in the district and urged assembly members to find practical solutions to the problems.

The Members would be taking through planning and budgeting, gender issues in local governance, local government system among others. The workshop was being organised by the Ministry of Local Government, Environment and Rural Development in collaboration with the Central Regional Co-ordinating Council.
