Brong Ahafo students commend Regional Minister

Accra, Dec. 7, GNA - The Brong Ahafo Students Union (BASU) has expressed satisfaction at the performance of the Regional Minister, Mr Ignatius Bafuor Awuah since his assumption of office, saying he has been tackling a number of problems such as poverty and illiteracy in the Region.

A statement signed on Thursday by Mr Richmond Baah, Public Relations Officer of BASU, said the Union was particularly glad about Mr Bafuor Awuah's attempts to find a lasting solution to the chieftaincy disputes in the Region.

"We believe that peace is a vital element on which development thrives hence any attempt to promote peace in a society requires much commendation and support," the students said in commendation of the Minister.

BASU urged the Regional Minister to continue his good works and appealed to various stakeholders in chieftaincy matters to offer the needed backing to him to ensure peace in the Region at all times. The statement also commended Mr Kwame Twumasi-Wuah, Municipal Chief Executive, Sunyani and the Assembly for 93the speedy and rigorous touches of modernity being offered to Sunyani and its environs=94. It acknowledged the increase in the number of traffic lights and other street facilities that would prevent accidents with the increase in the Municipality's population.

The students expressed the hope that as the country would be celebrating its golden jubilee next year, a host of tourists and investors would visit the Brong Ahafo Region and suggested the need for Sunyani to be modernized to showcase the beauty and splendour of the Region, which prided itself as the food basket of Ghana. BASU called for support to other districts and municipal assemblies to enable them to reach their development objectives for the general wellbeing of the people in the Region and the country at large. BASU also congratulated the DCE for Tano North and the District Assembly as well as chiefs and the people of Duayaw-Nkwanta Traditional Area for the successful National Rural Enterprise Project Client Exhibition, which took place in the District recently.
