Wassa-Akropong (W/R) Sept.17 - GNA- The Government has drawn up a comprehensive programme that would ensure the total involvement of every Ghanaian in the upcoming celebrations of the Golden Jubilee of the independence of the country.
Madam Doris Oduro Gyapomah, Wassa-Amenfi District Chief Executive (DCE) who announced this at the last session of the District Assembly at Wassa-Akropong on Friday said the total involvement of citizens would promote national unity and cohesion.
She said the Amenfiman Junior Secondary School would be designated a "Jubilee School" as part of the anniversary celebrations in the district, adding that, "for attaining 50 years as a sovereign state, Ghana has every reason to celebrate in a grand way". The DCE said the Assembly had been working hard to attract both local and foreign investors to the district as part of efforts to reduce poverty and employment generation.
She said recently, a four-member committee comprising DCE, the MP for the area, the Omanhene and a business executive visited a rubber cultivation company in Liberia to find out how best that company's activities could be replicated in the district in view of its immense contribution to the development of that country's economy. Madam Oduro emphasised the need for the out-going assembly members, particularly those who may not be part of the next assembly to contribute to the development of the area by sharing their ideas and experiences with the new members.
