Asamang community gets new place of convenience

Asamang-Ashanti, June 21, GNA - A 74 million-cedi place of convenience built through the initiative of an American Peace Corps Volunteer with assistance from Atwima-Nwabiagya District Assembly and the community has been inaugurated at Asamang near Asuofua.

Mr Thomas Ofori-Donkor, Atwima-Nwabiagya District Chief Executive, inaugurating the project urged the community to appreciate the gesture of the volunteer and use the facility wisely and ensured regular maintenance to sustain it.

He commended the people for constructing 26 shops for trading activities to improve their standard of living. Mr Ofori-Donkor announced that the assembly would support the project with 10 packets of roofing sheets and rehabilitation of their old local primary school.

Mr Benito Owusu-Bio, Member of Parliament for the area, announced that a three-classroom block would soon be constructed in the town to ease congestion in the school.

Miss Jennifer Burnett, the American Peace Corps volunteer, commended the people and the assembly for their support and co-operation during construction of the facility.

Nana Agyim Ababio II, Chief of Asamang, called on other organizations, well-meaning citizens of the town and non-governmental organizations to follow the shinning example of the volunteer.
