Dompoase calls for assistance

Wassa-Dompoase (W/R), May 07, GNA- The people of Wassa-Dompoase, a farming community in the Wassa Amenfi East District, have appealed to the police to arrest a 35-year-old man who had been terrorising them for some weeks now.

The town is almost deserted as hundreds of people have fled to nearby villages for fear of being killed by Kwaku Ahenkae, said to be mentally deranged.

Mr John Christopher Ohene, the Assembly Member for the area, told the GNA at Dompoase on Friday that armed with a sharp machete, Ahenkae had been chasing and threatening to kill any one in sight. Those who have fled the town include his mother Adwoa Amina who is seeking refuse in a nearby village.

Mr Ohene said the behaviour of Ahenkae had disrupted the farming activities of many people. He said a few months ago Ahenkae resorted to a similar behaviour and was overpowered after his brother had shot him in the leg. He was sent to the Pantan Hospital where he was admitted but he escaped from the hospital and returned to the town. 07 May 06
