Zoomlion makes impact in Upper East

Bolgatanga, Dec 23, GNA - Zoomlion, a waste management company, has achieved a lot of successes in the Upper East Region, Mr. Laud Mike Tagoe, Upper East Regional Operations Supervisor, has said. He attributed the company's accomplishment to its commitment to awareness creation, public education as well as dedication and discipline. Mr Tagoe told the GNA that the people in the region had become more alert to sanitation-related infections and deaths and had continued to show rapid response and appreciable cooperation with the company in waste collection.

He said container attendants had been detailed at the various waste collection points whilst monthly disinfestations well as public education had been stepped up. District offices for the company have been established to make operations more efficient and more 93Zoomkids clubs" are being inaugurat= ed in basic schools.

Mr. Tagoe appealed to the people, particularly storekeepers, to pick more waste bins to minimise littering in 93pressure areas" and assist sanitation stakeholders to enforce sanitation bye-laws. "The assemblies should also activate the bye-laws to reduce the pressure on the Zoomlion workers, especially now that the dry season has se= t in and many polythene litters get hooked to post-harvest, dry cereal stumps everywhere," he said.

Commenting on the award that was recently presented to the company for industrial leadership at the 2010 edition of the prestigious Millennium Excellence Awards, Mr. Tagoe said the recognition would motivate its local staff in the region to help bring about an environmentally conscious population and a productive workforce.
