Zonjo Junction drivers asked to move to allow for road construction

Accra, Sept 30, GNA - Commercial drivers at the Madina Zongo Juncti= on in Accra, have been asked to move from their current location to allow for the construction of the Legon-Adentan road project. The Madina Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) of the Ghana Polic= e (MTTU) Divisional Commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Charles Ahiamale said the drivers and their vehicles were obstructing the road work and therefore they should relocate to the Madina VRA Lorry Station.

He told the Ghana N ews Agency (GNA) on Friday that the drivers' attitude had not been encouraging as they had shown gross disrespect to the contractors. ASP Ahiamale said the Madina MTTU Police was therefore brought in to remove the drivers who had converted an uncompleted road into a lorry station.

He noted that efforts by the Police to move the drivers for the past four days had fallen on deaf ears. ASP Ahiamale, therefore, gave the final warning to the drivers, sayin= g the Police would move there to arrest recalcitrant drivers soon. He added that a decision had been taken by the District Security Committee and the Municipal Assembly to arrest and prosecute offending drivers in court.
