Zongo parents, youth advised to value education

“Our unity and fellow feeling as Zongo people has been evident over many years. Not long ago you could not tell the difference between a guest and the host in our homes in Nima,” the Grushi Chief for East Ayawaso has said.

Alhaji Ibrahim Umar Mojo made this comment when members of Change for Zongo Youth (COZY), paid a courtesy call on him at his residence, as part of the ongoing Zongo Youth Month celebrations.

He entreated all Zongo youth to take advantage of the numerous opportunities available, for economic and social progress.

He advised Zongo parents and youth “not to see failure in exams as a reason to drop out of school, but rather strive with determination until they achieve success” in their education, and then they can explore the various employment opportunities available, in both public and private organizations.

The chief commended the Zongo Youth Month initiative, as an improvement on what previous generations of Zongo inhabitants had done to develop the Zongo.

He expressed contentment in the annual celebrations which is in its third year.

The theme for this year’s Zongo Youth Month is “Building an Ideal Zongo through Creativity and Innovation”.

Chief Alhaji Mojo, who is also a successful businessman urged all Zongo youth, particularly the “entrepreneurs to submit themselves to tutelage and mentorship” as that is one important way they can learn and develop new ideas that will make their business succeed.

He consecrated the Zongo Youth Month and COZY, and prayed for continuous success, improvements and favour of the Almighty Allah upon the group.

He also emphasized the need for support and unity among Zongo people, and stated that his doors were always open to young people, and initiatives that have Zongo development at heart.

The Zongo Youth Month is an annual event that celebrates Zongo influentials, through acknowledging their positive efforts, in order to tell the Zongo story from a positive narrative.
