Zongo community advised to get title deeds for their land

The Eastern Regional Lands Officer, Alhaji Mohammed Abibu Alhassan, has advised the residents of the Zongo community to register their lands to help avoid future land litigations.

He said in recent times, some land litigations had turned into communal violence to disturb the peace of the country and one of the surest ways of reducing such conflicts is for people to get land titles for their properties.

Alhaji Alhassan was speaking at the Koforidua Central Mosque just before the Friday prayers at Koforidua as part of public education program of the Land Commission.

He said land registration has been simplified and a regional land registry has been established at the Land Commission Office at Koforidua to bring land registration services to the doorsteps of the people.

Alhaji Alhassan appealed to the members of the Zongo community to get a site plan for every piece of land they intend to acquire and conduct search on it to be sure that the land had not been sold to another fellow before proceeding with the purchase.

He said there are many benefits that one could derive from the registration of landed property and promised to extend the education to other mosques in the community.**
