Sheikh Abdul Wadud Haruna Cisse, President (Zaeem) of the Tijjaniya Muslims of Ghana, has called on Muslim youth, to eschew violence and comport themselves as we head to the November 7, general elections. He said the peaceful atmosphere which is currently prevailing in the country needs to be maintained and it is imperative that the youth resist any attempt by a political party to use them to cause mayhem in the country.

Sheikh Cisse said this at the fifth general meeting of the Tijjaniya Muslims at Ho, in the Volta Region.

The event was on the theme: "In harmony towards the 2016 elections".

He said as part of measures to ensure peace during the election, the leadership of the Tijjaniya Muslims would be organising public education events in the various zongo communities to sensitize the youth on the need to embrace peace.

He also outlined measures being put in place by the leadership of the Tijjaniya Muslims to promote education in the country.

He said there are plans to establish second cycle institutions across the country, a teacher’s training college and university.

Sheikh Cisse said the sod cutting for the commencement of work on the university would be held in April and had called on all stakeholders to contribute towards the project’s success.

"We also intend to build poly-clinics and other health centres to ensure the provision of quality health delivery to all Ghanaians," he said.

He called for unity among the various Muslim sects and urged all to support the Tijjaniya Muslims in achieving its aims and objectives.

Madam Helen Ntoso, the Volta Regional Minister, commended the leadership of the Tijjaniya Muslims for working towards promoting peace in the country.
