Youth urged to be disciplined

Bunso (E/R), Sept. 8, GNA- The Deputy Eastern Regional Minister, Mr Ofosu Asamoah, last Friday observed that the spate of indiscipline among the youth, if not checked would hamper the efforts being made towards the socio-economic development of the country. He said the way the youth dresses, talk and exhibit all forms of mannerisms showed the extent of the moral breakdown in the society and the treat it posed to the security of the socio-economic development. Mr Asamoah stressed an urgent attitudinal change amongst the youth and called on organizations and stakeholders involved in their training to intensify their efforts.

Addressing the 51st National Council Meeting of the Boys Brigade at Bunso, the Deputy Minister expressed his worry about the behaviour and attitudes of the youth.

He however, commended the Boys Brigade for instilling discipline and confidence in all who had passed through their training and urged them to continue with their good works. Mr Asamoah noted that many men who came out of the Boys Brigade were working in all spheres of the national life to improve the conditions of people with integrity and pledged the support of government in improving upon their work.

The National President of the Boys Brigade, Rev Agyin Birikorang, who spoke on the theme "moving unto maturity", urged the brigade officers to exhibit good qualities for the young ones to emulate. He was happy that most of the officers had been elevated to higher positions within their churches, work places and the communities and attributed it to the high sense of hard work and honesty that they showed.

The Akyem-Abuakwa Presbytery Chairman, Rev. E.O Darkwa on his part complained about the lack of timeliness that had permeated all areas including even the church. He urged the brigade to intensify the campaign on punctuality and timeliness that were their hallmarks for all others to emulate. 8 Sept. 07
