Youth engaged under NYEP urged to serve diligently

Nkoranza (B/A), April 26, GNA - Mr Kwabena Agyemang-Badu, Nkoranza District Director of Education, has urged persons engaged under the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP) to eschew absenteeism, lateness and apathy at their work places.

He was addressing 120 teaching assistants engaged to serve in the District at a two-day in-service training workshop to introduce them to the rudiments of teaching.

The District Director advised them to lead morally upright lives, to appear decent and to eschew social vices to command the respect from the people as role models.

Mr Agyemang-Badu urged the teaching assistants to work harder to further their education and cautioned them against sexual promiscuity. Mr Augustine Ayisi, District Coordinator of the Programme commended the government for launching the programme, which he said was helping in addressing the unemployment problem facing the youth.

He urged the youth engaged in the various sectors of the programme to attach great importance to their work and serve diligently. Mr Kwaku Amoah-Tutu, Assistant Director in charge of the Inspectorate Division announced that the circuit supervisors at the District Education Directorate were monitoring the performance of the teaching assistants and advised them to be serious with their work. He advised teachers and school heads to encourage them to develop interest in the teaching profession.

The participants were taken through principles of teaching, methodology in teaching, preparation of lesson notes and roles and qualities of the teacher. 26 April 07
