Youth disassociates itself from the action of chiefs

Jasikan (V/R), Oct. 1, GNA- The Jasikan District Youth Association in the Volta Region has disassociated itself from a pronouncement by some traditional rulers in the Buem traditional area over the nomination of Mr Solomon Donkor as Jasikan District Chief Executive.

Speaking at a press conference attended by executives of the association and Buem constituency NDC and NPP executives at Jasikan on Tuesday, Mr Daniel Kwasi Anokye, secretary of the association, said the stand by the chiefs did not represent the views of the youth. Mr Anokye said the attitude of the group was retarding development efforts in the district.

"They have for sometime now drawn daggers against the gazetted paramount chief of Buem traditional area," he said of the group. Mr Anokye said the chiefs have publicly and without consultation with any progressive group of persons, rejected the President's nominee of the District Chief Executive a day after his nomination was announced.

He said chieftaincy disputes and tribalism should be things of the past adding that the youth were not ready to hear such utterances in the district again.
