Youth boozing too much- Otumfuo's wife

Lady Julia Osei Tutu, wife of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has decried the increasing rate at which the youth are getting involved in alcoholism and other immoral lifestyles.

Such practices, she said, could be detrimental to their health as well as their physical and career development.

She, therefore, urged moralists and stakeholders to work hard to address the situation.

Lady Julia said this when the leadership of the Young People's Guild (YPG) of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), paid a courtesy call on her at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.

The visit formed part of the church's “Mission to the Palace” project, a programme that seeks to deepen relationship with traditional authorities.

Lady Julia, a member of the Guild, acknowledge the critical role played by the church in the propagation of the Gospel to help salvage mankind from evil deeds.

She underscored the need for the youth to be mentored positively to stay focused, noting that this would help them make informed decision and choices to brighten their chances of making it in life in future.

The YPG, she said, should not relent in its efforts, but be committed to the doctrines of the church and also intensify its evangelism activities in the society.

Price Kyei Ampofo, an executive member of the YPG, said the group was committed to spreading the gospel, particularly in remote areas of the country, “where the people needed lot of hope to survive the daily hardships of life”.

He urged his colleagues to be active in the activities of the Guild to foster unity and growth.
