Younger Democrats In Sissala East Constituency

Young Democratic In support of competent leadership is a group of young youth and women within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Sissala East Constituency in the Upper West Region. The group seeks among others to help project the cause of the youth in District and its environs by constantly demanding accountability and transparency from the leadership of the Party and Government in the Constituency. Again, we seek to project and protect the gains of the NDC in the Constituency in order to position the Party well for all elections.
As a group we have identified some very disturbing happenings within the party in the Constituency, especially in the current run-up to the forth-coming Parliamentary Primaries and wish to bring to the attention of all stakeholders for the needed action to be taken.
To start, although campaign is yet to be opened for all would-be candidates, the current MP with the cooperation of the leadership of the party in the constituency is going round clandestinely campaigning for yet another term to the disadvantage of all prospective candidates. It must be stressed that Hon Halutie and his cohorts have termed their on-going campaigning as a visit aim at reviving the branches of the party in the constituency. That we find as very inimical to the harmonious and peace of party activities in Sissala east. We believe that if the MP has been able to neglect the branches and their various executives for close to 3 years, he has no business patronizing them with his so-called revival visits two months to the Delegates Conference to decide her fate as the People’s Representative in Parliament.
Again, we are aware of the unconstitutional plan and agenda of the leadership of the party to rope in some sitting Assembly Members to vote in the Constituency Primaries to be held next year. That is an act of fraud and we want to use this medium to call on the leadership in the Constituency to desist from that to prevent any misunderstanding in the coming contest. If they as leadership have forgotten, we want to educate them, the Constitution of Ghana, the supreme Constitution of the land frowns on the Assembly Members affiliating themselves with political parties and the earlier they appreciate that, the best it will be for all of us. Also, Article 43 of our Party’s Constitution clearly states who and who qualify to vote at any Constituency Elections, and Assembly Members to the best of our knowledge are not part yet.
Article 43 of the NDC’s Constituency spells clearly who qualifies to contest for the position of a Parliamentary Candidate in the party and they are two strangers who have pick forms to contest yet the incompetent executives are silent because they want to engulf incompetent MP and DCE. We believes Hon Halutie has lost touch with the electorates of sissala East and she is in line for a massive defeat should she be contested against in the fourth-coming Primaries. As stakeholders in the Constituency, we will not countenance such acts, and indeed, any act that seeks to circumvent the electoral process in the Primaries ahead and placed the non-performing MP in good stead over her ]would-be competitors.
We are ready to stand by the Constitution of the NDC to ensure that the right thing is done in Sissala East in the fourth-coming Primaries, even at the peril of our lives. We are by this release calling on the National Leadership to call the leadership in the Constituency, Hon. Halutie and DCE to order. The playing field should be level for all would-be contestants.
Our promise, we will safeguard the process of electing the next NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Sissala and no matter what the greedy and selfish few in the Constituency think, the will and mandate of the majority will prevail. We hope they are reading. God bless our homeland Ghana.
