Young Talents Discovered In Ho

The Old housing circuit athletics championship held in Ho, Volta region has discovered Four (4) young talented Long Distant runners. The championship which was a 3-day event brought together 10 basic schools in a fraction of the municipality. Over 150 athletes gathered at the Ho sports stadium to compete in various track events. The epic moment of the championship came when the male participants for the 5000 meters’ were announced. 21 pupils started the race with high anticipation and on a speedy note. The crowd got to their feet as the 4 youngest of the participants took on their older competitors out of the race one by one. Sedofia Maxwell-11 years of prince of peace school, Kumedoazi Phils-11 years of Zion school, Tettey Peter -13 years Of United L.A and Ahiabu Godwin -13 years of United L.A completed the race with the 5th, 9th ,10th and 11th positions respectively. The last lap of the race became a spectacle as these boys took on the older ones in the last 120 meters to have a photo finish with them. In an interview, the four express their excitement to have discovered their God given talent in the championship which happens to be their first ever. The participants lamented on the conditions of the Ho sports stadium as it was always difficult for them to run there during the rainy season. One section of the stadium is a water log area and posses a lot of threat to them. The Volta region could have Another Godwin Adukpo and David Ziga if these talents are well nurtured into modern athletes. Several gifts including money and jerseys were given to all four as a sign of motivation and congratulation. Their name, goes into the record books of the circuit as the youngest ever runners ever to have achieved this mark.
