Yendi: Prison, military personnel smoke peace pipe

A unification football game has been stage between the military and prison service in Yendi to demonstrate their pledge to coexist peacefully.

The match, which was played on the 56th independence anniversary day, followed a municipal security meeting to resolve a misunderstanding between military and prison personnel over a football match last weekend.

It ended in a brawl which left two people injured.

Acting Northern regional prisons service commander, ADP Victor Douchebe told Joy news the main purpose of the unification game was to let the public understand that all was well between the two security commands in the area.

“It was something that was unfortunate, those games were something we have been doing together every year, it was a civilian that brought about the fight, and we are here today to let the whole world know that it was not anything [that should] divide our ranks,” he said.

The Yendi Municipal Chief Executive Issah Zakaria who supervised the unification game expressed joy that the two security services had resolved their differences.
