YMAU calls for peace and respect for the rule of law in GHANA

The Youth Movement for African Unity (YMAU) is a Pan-African youth oriented organization working to bring positive socioeconomic and political change in Africa which will result in African Unity and Integration. YMAU’s main objectives are in the areas of Youth Development and Participation in Governance, Anti-Human Trafficking, Women’s Rights, Peace Building and HIV/AIDS. YMAU is built on the belief that the youth make up the back bone and strength of every country in Africa and thus should be empowered to contribute towards a renaissance in Africa.

Follow Ghanaians, our beloved countrymen and women, the aged and most importantly the Youth of Ghana. The Youth Movement for African Unity (YMAU) deems it fitting to add our voice to the call for peace in Ghana after the Supreme Court’s ruling.

Ghana after 55 years of self-rule has proven to the rest of the world that Africans can indeed manage their own affairs. The African has worked a milestone by introducing the practice of democracy and have remained governed by it principles. Today, many countries on the continent are working in their efforts to achieving what Ghana and others have been able to do, which is transitioning from Military rule to Civilian rule and this has played a major role in placing Ghana on the international map. We cannot as a country afford to be sent back to the past; because we know the price we will have to pay.

I will like to remind us all of what will become of this great nation if we fail to respect the ruling of the Supreme Court and decide to conduct ourselves in creating political unrest. There will be an immediate stop of all economic activities, schools will be forced to close, and Investor confidence will be completely lost. This will affect each and every one no matter which political party you belong, faith, gender, social class and occupation. If Ghanaians allow such an unfortunate situation to befall us, there will not be any escape of casualties, because it could directly or indirectly be troubling for all with interest in the nation Ghana. So this call for peace is for every stakeholder local or foreign to play his or her (their roles) to see to it that Ghana remains peaceful.

This call goes to the youth; we must not allow any person or persons to encourage or persuade you to do anything or act that will lead to violence or disrupt the peaceful atmosphere we are enjoying as a people in Ghana. Let’s all together so maturity, tolerance and brotherliness by making sure that we respect the outcome of the Supreme Court ruling.

To the members of the two contending parties, Ghanaians are not ready and never shall be ready for any form of disturbances. We love Ghana and she comes first before any other issue or person. So it is adviced that you speak with your followers to be respecters of the rule of law and conduct themselves in very peaceful manner. Ghana as a country has witnessed and have hosted refugees in this country for so long that we know what is to have political crises in once country.

We also like to call for responsible media practice and request that all Talk Show host moderate and carefully select their panel who are very responsible in their presentation. To sum up I wish to state emphatically that the unification of the African continent will never happen if we are as a people unable to coexist, be tolerant of each other, as well unable to respect the rule of law and the practice of democracy.

Ghana after the verdict of the Supreme Court will be the winner internationally if we maintain the peace, and Africa will rejoice. God bless Ghana, and God Bless African.
