Xtra-Gold Mining Limited provides boreholes at Pameng and Akropong

Akyem Pameng (E/R), Dec. 2, GNA - Mr Victor Nkansah, Director of Xtr= a- Gold Mining Limited, has reiterated the commitment of the company to ensu= re that communities in its area of operations live dignified lives. He said the company would help provide the necessary social amenities=

such as boreholes, places of convenience and markets among others to the communities. Mr Nkansah said this when he inaugurated four boreholes estimated at G= HC 32,000 at Akyem Pameng and Akyem Akropong in the Atiwa District. He said the company's operations would disturb water bodies, which ar= e the sources of drinking water for the people and for that matter manageme= nt deemed it proper to provide the boreholes. Barima Okoree Brasiam, the Chief of Akyem Pameng, thanked the company=

and appealed to it to consider providing additional boreholes to cater fo= r the large number of migrant workers who would come to the area. He said operation of the company would prevent the activities of ille= gal miners who were degrading the environment.

Barima Brasiam appealed to the company to employ the youth in the are= a to help reduce unemployment in the area.
