Workshop for Bawku Youth ends

Accra, Jan. 12, GNA - The National Peace Council workshop organized for selected youth from Bawku has ended in Accra with the call on the Youth Ambassadors to be committed to peace. The workshop, which was under the theme: "Peace, Security and Development" was aimed at equipping the youth with conflict resolution methods and asking them how they thought the conflict in the area could be resolved. Professor Irene Odotei, Member of the Governing Council, said they decided to organize the workshop because it was the youth, children and women who suffered most during such conflicts. She said it was only prudent that they heard their voices and tried to make them worthy Ambassadors who would go back to their various schools and advice their peers about the need for all of them to live in peace and harmony.

Justice Julia Naa Yarley Sarkodie-Mensah, Consultant with the British Council in Sierra Leone, advised the Youth Ambassadors to always remember their status as worthy ambassadors and propagate peace wherever they went. "You are not only representing Bawku but also Ghana. If there is no peace in Bawku then there would be no peace in Ghana," she said. A representative of Bawku Naba thanked the Peace Council for their efforts in trying to bring peace to Bawku and pledged the commitment of the Bawku Naba in efforts to bring peace to Bawku.
