Workers told to help to make 50th anniversary celebration beneficial

Wassa-Akropong (W/R), Nov. 7, GNA-Public and Civil Servants have been urged to take active interest in all activities planned to mark the country's 50th independence anniversary celebration in 2007. Mr. David Yaro, Chief Director of the Western Regional Coordinating Council, said this at a meeting with heads of decentralised government departments in the Wassa Amenfi East District at Wassa-Akropong. He said each and every one should play roles assigned him and his office because the country stood to benefit immensely from foreign investment and tourism during the period.

Mr. Yaro asked the departmental heads to play advocacy role and educate the people on the need for them to register with the National Health Insurance Scheme and sustain it for their maximum benefit.

Alhaji Jacktar Mohammed Hardi, District Coordinating Director, said the district assembly had instituted an end-of-year award scheme for hard working and dedicated staff of the assembly.

Madam Doris Gyapomah Oduro, the District Chief Executive, expressed her unhappiness about the tendency of some officers who absent themselves from work or were always late to work.

She called for unity and cooperation among workers and other stakeholders to improve the development of the district.
