Workers of Newmont Mining involved in accident

Tepa (Ash), Nov.09, GNA - Six workers of Newmont Mining company based at Kenyasi in the Asutifi district of the Brong Ahafo region were seriously injured while 27 others received minor injuries when the bus conveying them from work last Friday night ran into a stationary vehicle loaded with teak trees at the outskirts of Tepa.

Three of the seriously injured, Mr Stephen Abeku, driver of the bus, Mr Boakye Williams and Mr Bright Adjei were referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching hospital (KATH) in Kumasi. The rest, Miss Esther Asiwbour, Mr Peter Adu-Boahen and Mr Thomas Buabeng were referred to the Duayaw Nkwanta Catholic hospital after receiving treatment at the Tepa government hospital. The cause of the accident was not immediately known, but police are investigating.

An eyewitness told the Ghana News Agency that the accident occurred when it was raining.
