Work with elected unit committee members - DCE tells assembly members

Daboase, May 16, GNA - Mr Anthony Bassaw, District Chief Executive of the Mpohor Wassa East, on Monday criticised assembly members who appoint their own team of Unit Committee members to work with instead of the elected members.

Mr Bassaw said that sidelining the elected members of the Unit Committees was illegal and improper.

"Please do not go and appoint your own unit committee members, which is definitely against the law," he said, at a meeting of the assembly to brief them on the Medium Term Development Plan of the area. 93Work with all the elected members and do not hand pick."

He said there had been several reports about this practice from some electoral areas in the district which, according to him, was creating confusion and hampering development in those areas.

Mr Bassaw said the Unit Committee would soon be inaugurated to give them the needed recognition.
