Work begins on a multi-purpose school building

Kumawu (Ash), Aug 5, GNA - Work has started on a 3.4 billion-cedi school building for the Otuo Acheampong Memorial Preparatory and Junior Secondary School at Kumawu in the Sekyere East District. The three-storey block will have computer and science laboratories, offices, a library and a dormitory.

Mr Charles Kwadwo Nimoh, the Proprietor, made this known at the 17th speech and Prize-giving Day of the school on Tuesday. He said the project was being financed with loans from the Agricultural Development Bank, Barclays Bank and the National Investment Bank.

Mr John Osei Frempong, Sekyere East District Director of Education, said though private schools played a crucial role in the country's education, proprietors should not take undue advantage to charge exorbitant fees other than the Ghana Education Service (GES) approved fees. Mr Isaiah Opoku Boateng, the District Chief Executive, advised landlords to cross check the background of students from the educational institution before renting rooms to them.
