Women urged to take up responsibilities

The Rev. Esther Adjetey, Director of Presbyterian Women Centre at Abokobi, on Thursday called on women to take up responsibilities in various positions and serve with commitment.

She urged women to utilize their special gift from God to enhance their being and build His Kingdom by doing away with the spirit of apathy.

A release signed by Lt. Col. E. Aggrey-Quarshie of the Public Relations Directorate of the Ghana Armed Forces and copied to the Ghana News Agency on Thursday, said Rev. Adjetey made these remarks at the 50th anniversary celebration of the women fellowship of Garrison Methodist/Presbyterian Church (GMPC), Burma Camp in Accra on the theme: "The Holy Spirit and the Believer, Harnessing Diverse Gifts for Mission.”

She said that the fellowship must grow unceasingly as 50 years was a year of jubilee freedom, forgiveness and peace.

Rev. Col David Adoteye-Asare, Snr Chaplain of the GMPC acknowledged the women fellowship as one of the oldest major groups in the church and prayed for God’s empowerment and leadership.

Sisters Margaret Opoku and Rosemond Larbi Okyere emerged President and Vice President, as new executives were inducted to lead the fellowship from the year 2012 to 2016.

The GMPC Women Fellowship was affiliated to the national Methodist and Presbyterian Women Fellowship after it was officially inaugurated for regular healthy interactions to exchange materials, instructions and Christian teachings.
