Women urged to build good relationship with children

Naa Deide Awula, Queenmother of Kokomlemle in Accra, has called on parents, especially mothers, to build good relationship with their children by being patient and accommodating.

She said shouting and the use of foul words against children at the least provocation scared them from discussing their problems with the parents and rather fell on their peers for advice.

Naa Deide Awula made the call in an interview with the Ghana News Agency on Wednesday as part of the celebration of the International Women’s Day.

The Day is celebrated on March 8 to mark the economic, political and social achievements of women across the world. This year’s theme was; “Make It Happen.”

Naa Deide Awula said children were expected to take care of the older ones, but when the parents failed to build that good rapport that expectation might not be met.

She said children were the greatest legacies that parents could leave behind and asked women to pay more attention to their education.

She urged parents to return home early from their work places to attend to the needs of their children.

Naa Deide Awula said women had contributed a lot in building the nation through all the sectors of the economy and they deserved to be recognised and honoured.

She wished all women a happy celebration and asked them to add more to their achievements.
