Women's Group in Adansi East District receive loan

New Akrofuom (Ash), Aug. 6, GNA - The Adansi East District has received a 7.5 billion cedi Japanese Loan to be distributed to women groups in the District.

Mr Dominic Alfred Kwaku Yeboah, Adansi East District Chief Executive, announced this at a durbar of the chiefs and people of New Akrofuom to honour Mr Benjiman Asonaba-Dapaah, a Member of the Council of State, who visited the area on Wednesday.

He said the Assembly would inspect individual projects of the women before the disbursement of the loan.

The DCE said greater part of the fund would go to farmers participating in the President's Special Initiative in Cassava Starch Project.

Mr Yeboah said the assembly would sink 42 boreholes for 37 communities at a total cost of 1.7 billion cedis, adding that 90 additional boreholes would be sunk for 70 more towns after the completion of the first 42.

The DCE asked the people to take advantage of the various interventions in the District, both foreign and local; to improve on their lot since the District Assemblies' Common Fund alone could meet all their felt-needs.

He said the Assembly was making efforts to rehabilitate the road network in the area so facilitate easy transportation of farm produce to marketing centres.

Mr Yeboah charged the people to be vigilant with the activities of illegal chainsaw operators. They should also report timber contractors who failed to honour their social obligations to the communities.

Mr Asonaba-Dapaah called on the people to have faith in the government and the Council of State and rally solidly behind President john Agyekum Kufuor to facilitate the development of the country.

He urged the people to forget the past and bury their political differences and work together as one people with common destiny and aspirations.
