Winneba roads to be rehabilitated soon

Winneba, Oct 13, GNA -Some roads in Winneba are to be rehabilitated within the next 15 months at cost of about 4.7 billion cedis to give its road network the right facelift befitting a university community. Similarly, the first phase of the new office complex for the Awutu-Effutu-Senya District Assembly involving more than 3.6 billion cedis will soon take off.

Captain Steve Kwamena Armah (RTD), the District Chief Executive, told the assembly at an emergency meeting at Winneba last Friday. He said the Central Tender Board has approved contract for the two projects Board for work to be commenced as early as possible. The house, according to Capt. Armah, received 3.2 billion cedis as its share of the common fund for the current year, and has so far, collected 442.7 million cedis in revenue between January and September. Capt Armah said the money represented 42 per cent of the total 1.052 billion cedis target the assembly set itself.

The Presiding member of the assembly, Mr Kwesi Esseku and Mr. Mike Hammah, MP for Effutu, called for the co-operation and unity of purpose among members to move the district forward.
