Winneba Police warns against trouble in Aboakyir festival

Winneba(C/R), April 8, GNA - The Winneba District Police Command has warned that any group of people or individuals who would be caught attempting to cause trouble before and during the celebration of the coming Aboakyer festival in Winneba would be arrested and prosecuted. The Command has therefore cautioned all parties litigating in land and chieftaincy to contract their lawyers and pursue such cases in court in order not to disturb the peace in the town. The Winneba District Police Commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Jordan Quaye gave the warning in a press statement he issued in Winneba on Monday.

He reminded the Asafo companies and institutions that, disturbing public peace, holding processions unnecessarily and without authority, and others are offences against the Public Order Law 491. ASP Quaye appealed to leaders of the groups and institutions among others, who want to hold procession to inform the Police for advice on routes to be taken to avoid any trouble. The Police Commander said the police are neutral and would always remain so therefore no one or group of people should attempt to draw them into any conflict.
