The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Professor John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor, has warned newly admitted students against recording and circulating videos of incidents on campus without the necessary permission.
He said students who record and share the footage on social media could face disciplinary action for violating the university's rules.
Speaking at the university's matriculation ceremony for undergraduate, diploma and postgraduate students for the 2026/2027 academic year on November 3, 2026, Prof Mawutor expressed concern about the circulation of the footage and urged students to bring such activities to an end.

"Please be very, very mindful. You have to end all these," he cautioned.
He further explained that students who intended to publish such recordings were required to obtain permission from the individuals featured in them, as well as authorisation from the university.
"The first place, you need the permission of the person who is in the video to publish it. I don't think they have that permission to do that. Secondly, they need the permission of the university to publish it," he said.
The Vice-Chancellor warned that students who broadcast the footage could also be held accountable under the university's disciplinary regulations.
His comments come amid the circulation of viral videos depicting alleged verbal abuse, physical assaults and other incidents involving students on campus.
