Western Regional development agenda is ready

Sekondi, May 30, GNA - Mr. Anthony E. Amoah, the Western Regional Minster, said the region must take advantage of the deprived schools initiative of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (NKUST).

He said under the programme, special allocation is made for the admission of students from deprived schools but the region had not been patronising the programme.

Mr. Amoah said this at the opening of a two-day Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) meeting at Sekondi on Wednesday. Metropolitan, District Chief Executives and Heads of departments attended the meeting. Mr. Amoah said a one-year development agenda had been developed for the Western Region and it would be presented to President John Agyekum Kufuor after a stakeholders' meeting had been completed in before June 15.

He said the agenda would focus on the mining, industry, tourism, investment, road and other sectors of the region. Mr. Amoah reminded the DCEs and departmental heads to focus their attention on the development of the region. He said the region's development agenda should target both infrastructure development and the development of the human resource base.

"Lets move together as one people with a common vision and development the Western Region," he said.
