The Western Regional House of Chiefs has honoured Lands and Natural Resources Minister and Member of Parliament Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah as a peace-maker and a development-oriented leader from the Western Region.

A citation was presented to him on Tuesday, April 14, 2026.

Armah-Kofi Buah played a major role in resolving the over five-year chieftaincy dispute over the election of the Western Regional House of Chiefs President.

The Paramount Chief of the Essikado Traditional Council, Nana Kobbina Nketsia V, who addressed the media, stated that Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah has contributed immensely to the development of the Western Region.

He disclosed that Armah-Kofi Buah set aside his political position to engage stakeholders in resolving the dispute.

“He told us, ‘I am not here as a minister. I am here as your son and brother. This region cannot wait another five years,’” he revealed.

According to some chiefs who spoke after the ceremony, Armah-Kofi Buah did not merely send letters or make phone calls but sat down personally with the feuding parties.

“He used not only his official authority but also his personal standing as a proud son of the Western Region,” they added.

Armah-Kofi Buah expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the chiefs of the Western Region for the honour and trust reposed in him.

He pledged to work harder for the development of the region.

He also urged the chiefs to continue to live in peace and harmony in order to accelerate development.

“Without unity, the Western Region cannot develop, so I appeal to you to remain united at all times,” he said as he knelt down.

The Western Regional Minister, Joseph Nelson, commended the chiefs for pledging to come together as one family to champion the development of the region.

“As Regional Minister, I am overwhelmed by the words put together by the chiefs in their citation. I must commend them for agreeing to come together again as one family after years of dispute,” he said.

“However, I also encourage them to settle their differences and champion the development of the Western Region and their various communities,” he added.

A member of the Council of State, Nana Maxwell Boakye, also commended the chiefs for honouring Armah-Kofi Buah.

His service, he said, is inspiring and beneficial to the country.

He pledged his continued commitment to working closely with Armah-Kofi Buah to develop the Western Region.

The ceremony was witnessed by MMDCEs in the Western Region.
