Western Central police command launches festive safety campaign

The Western Central Regional Police Command has launched a public safety campaign aimed at ensuring a peaceful and incident-free Christmas season across the region.

In a public announcement signed by ASP Beatrice Turkson, Head of the Public Affairs Unit, the Command urged residents, motorists, and revellers to prioritise safety as festive activities intensify in the coming weeks.

According to the Command, drivers must strictly adhere to traffic regulations, avoid speeding, and refrain from reckless behaviour that could lead to avoidable road crashes, one of the most common risks during the festive period.

Parents and guardians have also been reminded to remain vigilant by supervising children and young adults, especially during outdoor events, crowded gatherings, and nighttime activities.

To assure the public of enhanced security, the Regional Police Command disclosed that personnel will embark on intensified patrols, set up snap checkpoints at strategic areas, and maintain a rapid emergency response system throughout Christmas and New Year celebrations.

“These measures are designed to protect lives and property while ensuring that everyone enjoys a peaceful festive season,” the statement said.

The Command further encouraged community cooperation, urging the public to report suspicious activities and comply with security directives to support the overall safety effort.

Residents were also provided with essential emergency contacts, including Police (18555 or 191), the Ghana National Fire Service (050 833 4390), and the Ambulance Service (192).
